Morning Hawks Pickleball League – 2025 Season 1

Key Details:
- Location: Lisburn Leisureplex (Courts 1, 2 & 3 – if we get 24 players)
- Start Date: Wednesday, February 5th
- Duration: 12 weeks
- Game Days: Every Wednesday morning. Players will play one morning on, one morning off during the season.
- Time: 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM (please arrive 15 minutes early)
- Ball: Penn 26
Game Format:
Here is format:
- Mixed Doubles
- Max 16 players in the league.
- Each league will be split into 2 pools of 8/12 players (this will be randomly selected). Pool A will play Game Day 1, Pool B Game Day 2 and so on.
- The first part of the season will be played over 6 weeks (3 game days for each player).
- The top 4 in each pool will be placed in the Premier League for 6 more weeks (3 game days for each player)
- The bottom 4 in each pool will then compete in the Challenger League for the same period
- The Premier League players will compete for the amazing Morning Hawks Trophy. The Challenger league will compete for the Morning Hawks Shield and both 2nd & 3rd place will receives Silver & Bronze medals retrospectively.
How It Works:
- You’ll be paired with different partners and face randomly selected opponents each week.
- Points are earned in each game, and the scores are recorded.
- The aim is to be the top player, but teamwork is key to success.
Key Rules:
- Games follow USAPA rules, but instead of sets, we play 12-minute games.
- Winning team gets 3 points; if the game is a draw, each player gets 1 point.
- Every point counts! The score is recorded at the end of the game, even if it’s 25-12 or 5-4.
- Any disputes on the court should be resolved between the players.
- Foot faults (stepping over the line) should be called out by the player who makes the mistake.
- No time-outs or time-wasting.
- If you’re late, the other team gains a point for every minute you’re late.
The schedule and pools will be announced by 31 January 2025 – then the fixtures will be announced before the Monday game night.
If there are any particular weeks that you know you can’t play – either a swap or a substitute must be arranged. You can swap with a player from the other pool to play prior to the game night. Points will be allocated on that night to the player who has swapped and vice versa when you play in their game night. A substitute has to be someone who doesn’t play in the league, be a Lisburn Pickleball Club member and have the same ‘self-rating’ (or lower). We must be notified of the substitution prior to the game night.
